INTERVIEW with The Good Hurt on Drivetime Radio / C.Rennie

Review by Closing Time Magazine

For a three piece these guys are covering a lot of ground. 'Kick this Habit Of You' as an opener is a stonking juggernaut of a tune that pounds you in the right way like a Swedish massage in a stolen car, 'Spinning Plates' almost reminds me of U2 Red Rocks era in a v.good way, 'Do It Every Night' is kinda like Buddy holly and Good Souls is the song that Razorlight wishes they could have written. A really strong debut. Recommended.

ELECTROPUNKROCK!

PRESCRIPTION NO 1. A short lived but glorious electro punk band from Manchester featuring Drongomala, Sink and Tree in this high octane debut EP.

The Good Hurt was formed in Manchester late in 2006 and quickly got militant about creating the best sounds and songs they possibly could. Musically, an amalgamation of their infatuations with rock, funk, jazz, dance, Indian and other world music.

Their sentiments are as diverse as their influences and the scientific, romantic, realistic, cinematic and nihilistic sides to life are all well explored. Prescription No 1, their first EP, easily showcases their ability to be super-punk oiks one minute while classic and well structured the next. Recording the EP one day from live takes and mixing the next has made sure that the energy has went straight to the recording...no tricks all playing.

The Good Hurt don't contrive any sort of identity and instead dig the challenge of breeding an eclectic yet coherent output. They are as likely to use a wobbly synth or accordion as they are a distorted guitar.
